Emergency and/or Extended Care
As we are a full service hospital we can provide emergency as well as extended care during regular office hours. If an emergency occurs after hours we work with Vancouver Animal Emergency Clinic to provide your pet with the best care possible. 24-Hour Intensive Care
Although we have intensive care capabilities throughout and beyond our office hours, Point Grey Veterinary Hospital is not staffed during the entire night. Should your pet be hospitalized, please discuss with your veterinarian the necessity of overnight care and monitoring versus ongoing therapy at our hospital. Following this discussion, you may make a decision as to whether you wish to transfer your pet to Canada West Veterinary Specialist and 24/7 Emergency at 604.473.4882. Located at 1988 Kootenay Street in Vancouver or if distance is an issue, you may try Vancouver Animal Emergency Clinic at 604.879.ERER(3737). They are located at 2303 Alberta Street in Vancouver.
Continuous Care
Since we handle most of our own emergencies, you can be assured that our hospital will be able to provide your pet with continuous patient care during our regular office hours. If for any reason we are unable to provide the level of care needed we work with Vancouver Animal Emergency Clinic and Canada West Veterinary Specialists to ensure the continuity of care for your pet.
House Calls
Should there be extenuating circumstances where your pet cannot come to the hospital for evaluation, we may offer a house call service. This needs to be discussed in advance with the reception staff and can be booked on a doctor availability basis only. If you are unfortunately faced with the need to euthanize your pet and would prefer this be in the privacy of your own home, contact us in advance and one of our receptionists will make arrangements on your behalf with the doctor of your choice.
